DOCK CONSTRUCTION:  MIDOCKS does not build wood dock like most others. Our wood dock construction is stiffer and stronger, still keeping it lightweight. It's construction is similar to a home floor or deck.  All deck boards are secured with 4 Stainless Steel screws or Treated Deck screws to our 4.562 tall boxed design Mackinaw Heavy Duty Side Stringers (see photo). At MIDOCKS, we use a 10ft, #2 or better grade treated pine 2x4 positioned vertically in the center of each dock and secured to each deck board with at least 1 screw.  The 2x4 rests at each end on the cross arm of the dock supports.  This gives only an 18in span on 36in wide dock and less than 24in span on 48in wide dock. Others may span this 36-48 inches with no vertical support, or charge more for it. MIDOCKS also pre drills the 4 outside screw holes on each board to eliminate splitting,  another of our quality building methods. Where sections mate, there is no aluminum lip extending across the boards of the decking or is there section connectors visible.  You only see decking to decking, the very cleanest look possible. Then consider that our Mackinaw Heavy Duty side stringers have no aluminum lips extending over the top of and running the full length of the decking on each side.  They only have  a trim line, which we believe creates the very cleanest and most attractive wood deck dock possible.
